Today we got up nice and early at six oclock and struck camp. Then we went for a stroll and had a look at the Marree railway station. Next we hopped on the bus to Wilpena Pound (about a four hour drive). On the way we saw a few bush chooks (emus) and stopped at an old township (Farina) and explored the houses.

After a bit of plain desert, out of nowhere came a massive mountain range, inside was Wilpena Pound. After a bit more driving we got to the camp site, the area is a lot greener than we have previously experienced. After setting up the tents we went on a short walk with a local, and learned more about the aboriginal culture in the area.

Afterwards we had a Welcome to Country ceremony where one of the elders welcomed us and told us a little more about the history. Then we had dinner and went to sleep quickly for a well-earned rest.

Now before the end of the blog post, a quick storytime with Reece. As you probably know, yesterday we had an incident with the air conditioning liquid and got stuck for a few hours. Well I probably had the worst time 🙂. I was sitting in my seat trying to get a bit of rest on the bumpy dirt and gravel road, when suddenly warm oily sticky liquid starts raining down from the air conditioner drenching me. After getting off the bus I washed and got changed into some clean clothes. We tried to dry all my wet items including my hat, bag, pillow and sunglasses. Luckily after the bus was fixed and we drive to the new camp, I managed to shower and get all my clothes dry. So everyrhing is fine. That concludes storytime with Reece, have a nice day.
