The morning was off like a shot. With 17 boys we go on a daring walk of the top of the mountain that overlooked the campsite. There was an amazing view of Alice Springs landscape. While climbing up the mountain there were some amazing signs of erosion. Most of the rocks were slippery and looked like they had been sedimentary rocks that once lived below sea level.
We travelled to Simpsons Gap where we met Toby the Ranger who told us all about the natural flora and fauna of the area. After the talk, we explored the gorge where we saw some black-footed wallabies. Although they were very hard to spot, we found a couple. Soon, the heat really kicked in and we retired to the relative cool of the nearby shelter. It was here that we ate lunch and shared stories of previous experiences in the Choir.
After a not-so-brief hour-and-a-half bus trip to Hermannsburg or Ntaria in the native tongue, we arrived at the local school and sang songs for the children. They too shared songs with us. This was then followed by a tour of the town which included a stop at the Finke River, the old cemetery and the historic precinct where we learned about the history of the town and its founders. Finally, we took part in a joint rehearsal with the local Choir where we performed and also learned a song in the indigenous language. After dinner at the school we boarded the bus tired, yet fulfilled with day’s events.

Nice post Oscar and Finn. I felt as though i was there with you. Scott Charles
Thanks for the update boys! Sounds like the tour has started with a bang. The choir was on ABC News last night (Monday night) highlighting the festival at Ormiston Gorge
What a great recount of your day boys - loved reading it. Still wet and cold here
